blading

So, I've been calling Rachel and Lindsay for about a week, almost everyday to see if they wanted to go blading. Tuesday, they both told me they could go Wednesday *if* it weren't raining. Rachel had given me crap cause she said that on Monday, and I called Tuesday anyways. :) She made up for it by not answering her phone all Wednesday, despite the sunshine! What was with sending me an email at 5:45, Rach? I couldn't reach you before or afterwards! I tried sending a funny email as a reply. I don't think it went through because I came home, and it was still sending. Boo.

My big issue with blading is people trying to run me over. Whenever I go by myself, I think I go during rush hour, cause no one looks where they're going, they're all in a rush, and they honk at me for being in a bike lane. I come home wanting to strangle the urban population. Lindsay and I ended up going for a short trip along the lakeshore. People were so polite today! They'd stop and wave us across the street. People would smile and say "hi". There was at least one car with boys shouting out the window. I blame it all on Lindsay. I think I scare people.

I tried rotating the wheels on my blades, since I haven't done that in a long time and they're getting pretty worn. Victor bought blades last weekend, but we didn't end up going cause it was raining/snowing the whole time. He left them at my place, and I borrowed the allen key to remove my wheels. I honestly thought I was going to break it, I was torquing so hard. Suddenly, I hear a "snap", and the screw comes loose. I look at it, and there's a blue goob along the threads. I suspect it's locktite, something for setting a screw permanently. Hmmm. I keep going, and get 4 of the 8 wheels off, though I striped the other 4 screws. Oops. I call my dad and ask him if the blue *was* locktite, and he said it probably was, and felt horrible that I was upset. When he got home, we went to the store. I went to ask SportsChek if they had new axles, or better yet just screws, I could buy. I brought a good one with me as an example. He gave me 7 new ones for free! My dad went off to Canadian Tire and bought a pair of drill heads ($20) to remove screws and 4 screws (at $0.26 each!) We looked at the new (free!) axles, and realized there was a bit of blue goop on them, too. My dad felt better, cause he realized that despite it was something he would have done, he *didn't* locktite my wheels after all. He took four screws out of my blades for me. When I went to replace the wheels, I realized he accidentally drilled out one of the good screws. Oops.
At least it's done now. I now have my 7 new axles and all my wheels swapped. I'm happy.

Sweet! All you need now are new wheels, a brake pad, and bearings and you'll have brand new skates. So does this mean you're going to beat me even worse than you already would have?

I had a chiropractor appointment they called me on wednesday morning. As well I don't really rollerblade that much you wanna know why cuz my rollerblades suck and Amanda took away my rollerbladding license cuz I fell every time I went last year. As well why the crap did you call me at 10 at night I definatly wasn't going out then!!! Sorry if I wasn't feeling up to it but I just don't have as much energy as you because I'm not super mutant who has an insane amount of energy. Most of us don't have a tonne of energy after work.

I was once rollerblading up a hill and my wheel came off!

I got new rollerblades for about $30, but I think they're a size too big.

Rachel: I called late cause I wanted to see what was going on with you, see why you had disappeared. I don't believe it was at 10, though! Unless it was your cell, and I figured you would turn it off if you were sleeping or something.
As for super energy, you're miss "I go to the gym for a full hour long hard core workout after work"!!

Danielle: I highly recomend against cheap skates. If you want to go really far, they can chafe and be really uncomfortable. They're good for going short distances fast though.

Danielle, check for deals on last year's models. The ones I bought were about 50% off.
